Good Morning :) I have nothing really meaningful to share, but I did notice I now have 200 user pics! I know londonesque did a poll for which one to put into her newest slot, but I have 25 empty slots...what to do?? I adore a certain celebrity, we all know, but those new Vanity Fair/Harper's Bazaar pics of Rob and Kristen are pretty nice too...25 slots...what would you put in 25 slots of icons?

also, in case anyone was curious, we have furlough (at work) the 23rd-25th of this month, so I won't be at work. I also took the following week off for the hell of...but I have nothing planned. I'm not doing a staycation, and I waited too long to fly some place far...I'm debating seeing my smelly sister, but I don't really care for flying that far...

I am trying to relax more, in general...I find if I don't force things, in life, other things will flow, you know? I think I am ready for a new 'journey' in life - or at least I'm ready to start considering it. stay tuned, or not :)

So I watched the latest How I Met Your Mother episode and now I must rant.

On Saturday the 14th at 4AM UTC/GMT we will be upgrading the operating system of our network load balancers to a newer version, one that will allow us to use both CPUs! Nifty, because multiprocessing is nice.

Since we have 2 load balancers, the plan is to upgrade 1 at a time, and there really should be very little impact to our website. Hopefully you won't notice a thing and I'll get to go back to the hotel and watch some wonderful late night infomercials.

We've got a lot of exciting projects coming up for 2010 and we're hoping that we'll be able to deliver them all to you, that you will find it useful/cool/lovely and then you will use the site even more. Behind-the-scenes work like this will give us the capacity to handle the anticipated traffic, so expect a few more maintenance windows especially in the beginning of next year as we've got some neat ideas to improve performance around here! We had the recent 30-45 minute outage yesterday due to one of our logging databases filling up disk space -- not so great design coupled with my human error in handling the initial problem -- and it looks like we're going to finally have some resources to eliminate stuff like that. I can't wait!

As usual, I will be updating status.livejournal.org before and after, just in case you are not able to reach our main website during the work.

I didn't get the job after all, though they didn't give any reasons as to why exactly - so it was probably just my nose that didn't fit. Was moping around a little yesterday, but I recovered from that already. ;) Actually, today I had a nice if short 'getting to know you' talk in another temp agency with two potential jobs, so let's see what comes out of that. ;) Might have given them the impression that I'm very talkative (which I'm actually not), but it was entirely their fault. They encouraged me. :P

Finished reading Stardust and started with Anansi Boys (I'm taking what the library has to offer in english), by Neil Gaiman again. I'm still glad ireth_e kinda introduced me to his writings, even if completely by accident. *g*

Wow, for the first time ever, my photobucket brandwidth got exceeded. I hate this. It never happened before. *grumble*

Edit: Upgraded to pro for a year. *sigh* I hate being forced to buy upgrades on sites, but I can't really upload all the stuff in my photobucket account to tinypic. I'd spend days at it!

This teaches me NOT to join various graphic forums and then maintaining galleries in those. Great recipe for sending my brandwidth kapoot!

Good Morning Everyone :) well, it was a bracing sort of end to the week, but I'm not going to dwell on it, it just isn't worth it. I just have to remember to focus on what truly matters and ignore/let slide everything else. I didn't really do a whole lot this past weekend, but I think I needed that. I haven't really had a true break in I can't even remember how long. I did get to watch tons of football yesterday, but to no avail, as both my teams lost again...( losing pics )
